Dear Diary,
I saw a girl crying in the hall today. I heard that her mom is going to be deported. My parents always claim that this is right, that these people are stealing our jobs and sucking our country dry. They are people though! I knew her mom. She came to class for a celebrating culture day and made us food, and practiced her English. She didn't steal anyone's job. She worked as a janitor and was taking some classes to learn English. She wanted to belong here, to be a citizen, but the thing is she did belong even if she wasn't legal yet.
